Warranty

The 20 Year Guarantee

The Gränsfors Bruk Axe head carries a Twenty (20) Year Guarantee against defects in original materials and workmanship. It is valid to the original owner with accompanying guarantee card and dated proof of purchase from an authorized retail dealer.

Gränsfors Bruk Axe Guarantee and Warranty Process:

Guarantee Card: A Guarantee card is stapled on the inside back cover of The Axe Book. This book comes attached to all brand new Gränsfors Bruk axes. Each new axe carries a 20 year guarantee on the axe head against manufacturing defects. This guarantee applies to the original owner of the axe and is not transferable. It does not cover normal wear and tear, rust, damage or breakage due to improper use or lack of routine maintenance. (See notes on axe care below.)

Handles: Being made of organic material, a wooden axe handle can loosen and break in the course of use. Handles are not covered under the guarantee unless it is apparent that there was a defect in the wood of a new axe. Head-to-handle loosening can be prevented through routine and proper care of the tool. Though each axe handle is made of strong, shock resistant hickory, breakage can result when there is direct impact against the handle. If such damage or breakage occurs, Gränsfors Bruk replacement handles are available for purchase from your local retailer.

Axe Care: Please read The Axe Book for instructions on the proper care and use of your axe.  The axe head should always be dry before placing the tool in storage. This also applies to the sheath or any covering being used on the axe. Steel is an alloy of iron and other elements and will therefore rust readily if left exposed to moisture. The axe head should be periodically coated with oil to create a moisture barrier and eliminate the opportunity for rust to form.

Your axe handle should likewise be coated periodically with boiled linseed oil, beeswax, paste wax or any type of wood conditioner. This keeps the wood of the handle well hydrated and less susceptible to the negative effects of expansion and contraction. Something that can occur when the axe is exposed to extremes of temperature and varying moisture levels.

Returns and Return Authorization: If you see a problem with your new axe please immediately contact your US Authorized Retailer with questions before use. Your US Authorized Retailer will direct you with the information for processing your warranty. Where applicable Grand Forest, Inc., the US distributor, will evaluate the information including any requested photo and issue an RA (Return Authorization) number. Returns for warranty consideration are only accepted if an RA number has first been issued.  All returns must be accompanied by a copy of your dated proof of purchase from a US Authorized Retailer and your axe guarantee card.

Authorized Retailers: Please see our list of US Authorized Retailers before making a purchasing decision. Terms of guarantee are only valid for purchases from US Authorized Retailers. If your purchase was made from an overseas entity, or any company not authorized to sell Gränsfors Bruk axes in the United States you will be asked to work directly with that entity for returns and resolution of your claim. Unauthorized retailers include but are not limited to Amazon, ebay, Google and Walmart.

Svedbro Smide Wrecking Bar Guarantee and Warranty Process:

Guarantee: Like Gränsfors Bruk axes, Svedbro Smide wrecking bars carry a 20 year guarantee against defects in the steel and workmanship. There is no guarantee card attached to the bar at the time of purchase but each bar is date stamped and the original proof of purchase will be used in the claim process. The guarantee applies to the original owner of the wrecking bar and is not transferable. This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, rust, damage or breakage due to improper use or lack of routine maintenance. (See notes on wrecking bar care and correct usage, below.)

Bar Care and Correct Usage: The wrecking bar should always be dried off before being stored. It is made of high quality hand-forged steel. Steel is an alloy of iron and other elements and will therefore rust readily if left exposed to moisture. The bar should be periodically coated with oil to create a moisture barrier and eliminate the opportunity for rust to form.

When using the fork end of the bar, force should be applied evenly to both sides of the fork. If force is exerted unevenly, against only one side at a time, the steel on that side can fracture and permanently damage the tool. The bar is not designed for this.

Returns and Return Authorization: If you see a problem with your new bar please contact your US Authorized Retailer with questions before use. Your US Authorized Retailer will direct you with the information for processing your warranty. Where applicable Grand Forest, Inc., the US distributor, will evaluate the information including any requested photos and issue an RA (Return Authorization) number. Returns for warranty consideration are only accepted if an RA number has first been issued. All returns must be accompanied by a copy of your dated proof of purchase from a US Authorized Retailer.
